The title says it all. People.com's Stylewatch features our t-shirt website and specifically our Geek is the new chic t-shirt. We are offering the readers of People, and of our blog, a 20% discount on all our shirts. The promo code is: "People," and it expires on June 15th. So use it as many times as you'd like until then.
And don't forget that we always offer free USPS shipping when you buy 2 or more shirts. And our Girls recession t-shirts are up on the site.
The other week, the Bonobo Conservation Initiative contacted us to see if we were interested in helping them out. Of course we are! We love monkeys--even if I don't understand the difference between: monkeys and animals-that-look-like-monkeys but aren't classified as such.
We love helping out charities--especially monkey ones. We make t-shirts for a few reasons. 1)To clothe the naked. 2)To bring humor into this world. 3)To offend some uptight people sometimes. 4)To make enough money so that we can share it with others and make a difference in this world!
If you've got a charity that needs a Crooked Monkey gift certificate, let us know and we'll try to accommodate you.
Hello music lovers. My brother's favorite DJ David Guetta performed Sunday night at Fur Nightclub in DC. We went with a few friends and it was a fantastic night. He's a great performer. He debuted a song that Noam posted here 5 weeks ago called, "When love takes over." The place erupted. Nice work Noam.
This week's song is Black Eyed peas newest release, called "I got a feeling." It's produced by David Guetta, so it's got that electronic feel. Enjoy it.
Twitter has done well for us. We found out about Ryan Seacrest wearing our shirt, get to interact with our customers, and found out about Kitten Lounge. Its run by Cocoabebe, she's got a great twitter account--so follow her!
Anyways we sent her some shirts to review and she's going to post that review next week. In the meanwhile, just in time for Memorial Day Weekend, she added our t-shirts to her Summer guide. She's got some other cool products on there so check it out.
I'm back. It was a trip for the ages. A little bit of business a lot of pleasure.
First day, I got in and headed straight to a meeting with Jay from Kitson Men's. It's always good to check out that store for new trends and see how our shirts are selling. V necks, V necks and more V Necks. Thats what I saw. We'll be coming out with some of our very own V necks soon. After the meeting I met up with my friend David (he will be featured in this post quite prominently) and we went out to a bonfire on the beach. We raged til midnight which doesn't sound too late, but LA closes real early, and I woke up at 4 AM that day to catch my plane.Second day was full of meetings. Met up with our showroom, our newest designer, our production manager, our LA screen printer, and one of our biggest accounts. All the meetings went better than planned. We got the biggest orders ever from that retail store, and the rest of the meetings were fantastic. At the end of the day, we made some time for the required Baywatch photoshoot in Venice Beach (above).
That night was pretty fantastic too. David and I met up with Sasa--the guy who put the Maxim party together. We went to the STK steakhouse 1 year anniversary. For those of you who were following my updates on Twitter, you'd know that I ran into Kim Kardashian (great ass), David Spade (to whom I asked, "Do you know where the weight room is?"), and Courtney Cox (still looks good).
Next day I met with the guys over at the Ryan Seacrest Show. We sat down for lunch to plan the User Generated contest we'll be doing with the Ryan Seacrest show. Details to follow.
That night the Maxim Hot 100 party went down. Some of the most gorgeous women in the world descended unto the Santa Monica Airport Hanger. And Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), two cell phones in hand, showed up. Open Bar, Terrell Owens, Popcorn, Heidi Montag, Ferris Wheel, bottles and models. Awesome awesome night. You should've been there.I'm wearing our Coke Healthier than Crack T-shirt.
Last Thanksgiving, we sponsored the Annual Paul Blank Invitational Flag Football Game which raises money for the Foundation for Fighting Blindness and the Association for Safe International Road Travel.
As a sponsor of the game, and an alumn of the Charles E Smith Jewish Day School, I was invited to play in this year's epic match. We handed out the shirts to start the Battle Royale and the players were impressed with the quality of the shirts--only to be outshined by the quality of play by the gold team. A little tidbit of history: I was the captain of the Gold team for JDS in 11th Grade.
The pictures below reflect the intensity of the game and the skills needed to compete in this annual gridiron. Here, Elliot Totah shows off his lightning speed and cat like reflexes. The blue team mustering up some much needed Ruach for the second half. And Dan Fulop showing off the monkey on his back:
This is an awesome song for three reasons: 1)Akon is in it. 2)Michael Jackson is in it. 3)Both Akon and Michael are in it together. Enjoy "Hold my Hand" by Akon, Ft. Michael Jackson.
We finally have the audio clip from the Ryan Seacrest show. And we finally made our first Crooked Monkey YouTube video. It took us a little bit of time--we wanted to make sure YouTube was a safe place and that it was here to stay. Next we'll launch a "website." (Just kidding we already have one).
Anyways, Manny from the On Air show with Ryan Seacrest talks about our Thats How I roll t-shirt and our I recycle boys t-shirt. This was aired on April 23rd on Kiss FM in LA. Pretty cool, hunh? Those lucky winners got free Crooked Monkey t-shirts. We'll be coming out with a bunch of new YouTube videos this summer. Kind of funny that it took us 3 years until we uploaded our first video.
This week's song is in honor of Mother's Day. The name of the song "Lost", is how we would be without our mothers. So go call them and thank them for carrying you around for 9 months--sacrificing alcohol, Tuna, and trampolines. And then thank them for looking after you when you didn't even know how to walk.
My friend told me on Thursday that he got me a ticket for Wednesday night's Maxim Hot 100 party. I was supposed to go to LA at the end of the month, but changed my flight and rearranged my meetings so I could be in LA for the party. This party is going to be off the charts. They cast 500 models and apparently there's a Ferris wheel somewhere in the mix.
But my trip will not be all fun 'n games. I also plan to have some meetings.
People/Things I plan to have meetings with: The showroom One of our designers Manhattan Beach Our Production manager in LA The models we pick up at the party Our screen printing facility in LA Some retail spots, like Kitson and ShopIntuition.com
I'll let you all know how the party is. If you've got something to say to Bar Rafeli, let me know. I'll whisper it to her in Hebrew.
Just as an FYI, our anniversary sale is still going on. So I'd take advantage of it and get as many graphic or funny t-shirts as you can. We're still celebrating over here, and have been sending out orders all day. Thanks for the love.
Have a good weekend and keep on wearing awesome t-shirts.
Four years ago, on May 4th 2005, Crooked Monkey launched at a bar in College Park called Cornerstone. The world was without Crooked Monkey. And having a "monkey on your back" meant something totally different.
Four years ago I was a senior at the University of Maryland and my former business partner had just graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. We drove around town selling shirts out of the back of a Honda Civic. And we were the only company innovative enough to use Facebook for business purposes--launching "Crooked Monkey hotties" groups on 20 different college campuses. Four years ago, Seventeen magazine had to use other t-shirt vendors and were forced to fill their pages with less awesome t-shirts. Ryan Seacrest had to look elsewhere for funny t-shirts. And Miley Cyrus, well Miley wasn't around back then.
A lots happened since we started four years ago. We've accomplished so much and we're extremely grateful for the opportunity to be able to provide you guys with funny t-shirts and cool graphic shirts. There's a lot still to come in the years ahead--so stick with us!Thanks to everyone for allowing us to grow and for appreciating our sense of humor. And above all, for giving us the ability to keep on Livin' the Dream.
We're going to run a 20% sale for the week as a small thank you. But the real thank you, is that we promise you will love us, and our shirts, even more this year.
Crooked Monkey doesn't have any YouTube videos, we've kind of skipped out on that Medium. We made a pretty sweet video about our photoshoot, but we never took the raw footage to the editing room. Hopefully this summer we'll release the blockbuster.
So here's our tribute to all those unpaid Youtube Celebrities. South Park does a real funny episode on all the famous YouTube Celebrities trying to claim their "cash."
I guess if you asked us to describe the good life this would be it--Cocktails, palm trees, sunset, beach chairs and a Crooked Monkey soaking it all in.
What drink do you think he's sipping on? We should get his drink sponsored.
And for some reason he's not wearing a t-shirt. Whats up with that?
This is part of our graphic t-shirt line. Real cool, retro inspired designs. They usually center around music/retro technology/or anything else our designers think look cool.
The Retro Snapshot Graphic t-shirt is one of my favorite new shirts--paying homage to the old school Polariod-like cameras and their instant photographs. I guess they were ahead of their time--immediate results, instant satisfaction.
In n out of rehab like its my day job new guys funny t-shirt
Here's a shirt that we've had for a while, but for some reason never made it to our online site. In 'n out of rehab like its my job. Its like a revolving door--go in one minute, out the next, and back again next week.
As we commented on the product page, Rehab is the best place to meet celebrities--its like a second home for them. I'd go to the ones in LA or Nevada--those are probably the most frequented.
I bet you know some friends that could use this t-shirt.
We've had the I recycle boys shirt for girls for so long, that we decided to add a guys version as well. This shirt is geared primarily to gay guys who like to advertise their sexual orientation. I think it's a pretty funny shirt and with a shirt that reads "I recycle boys" your sending a clear message. This shirt goes well with the My Roommate is gay t-shirt
For those of you that are new to our site, we've started making non-funny graphic t-shirts. There are no jokes, just deep meanings and layers of analysis. We decided that college kids love funny t-shirts and they also love cool graphic t-shirts--so we're providing both.
We just posted 13 new Guys t-shirts to our site. Some companies like to add 1 shirt every week, but we prefer to add a bunch of shirts at a time--it gives you more to enjoy when you're at work.
This shirt, Coke, Healthier than Crack t-shirt, is a pretty awesome looking design inspired by the 80's. The t-shirt embodies Crooked Monkey pretty well--funny t-shirt, awesome graphic. We try to blend the two as best as we can.
Well probably not. We actually like John Mayer--He's one of our interns favorite blogger/singer/songwriters.
I'm not sure how Chloe the intern found the video--the singing is pretty awful and very annoying to listen to--but its a guy covering John Mayer wearing our Either your collar is messed up your just a douchebag t-shirt. The video's gotten over 13,000 views.
This weeks song from UMD student, and resident DJ, is by David Guetta. DJ Shnooms has been watching this song in the underground world for the last few months, and he says its finally ready to be realeased. So here it is. David Guetta ft. Kelly Rowland "When Love Takes Over." Guetta is dropping a new album very soon, so look out for it.
