Crooked Monkey has modeling shoots all the time, and we produce some pretty sexy pictures like the one above. The photograph was taken by Richard Greenhouse, a famed Washington DC photographer, who does all the shots on our funny t-shirt website. You can check out our Gallery for more hot, steamy pictures.
But it's not everyday that I'm asked to be the model of a photoshoot. I was quite flattered and a little nervous for my first shoot--finally understanding what our models have to go through. Leading up to the shoot I kept to a strict diet of Pizza and Fruit by the Foot.
The shoot took place in NorthEast DC at what we thought was an abandoned warehouse. There was some real cool Graffiti art about the election that we spotted and Modern Luxury wanted to use it as a backdrop for the shoot--providing a nice urban feel to the sleek outfit the set me up with. The best thing about the shoot was I didn't have to dress myself--they had stylists taking care of my appearance. I only had to make sure that my mascara looked good and my hair was gelled. I rolled up to the shoot in jeans and a Crooked Monkey Funny t-shirt. They swapped that outfit out for a sharp looking Dolce Gabana suit. The photographer told me I was a natural born model and looked comfortable in front of the camera--I told him that I already had a girlfriend but was flattered nonetheless.
Anyways, about 45 minutes into the shoot we got shoed away by the owner of the warehouse who accused us of a lot things--not fit for publication--and threatened to bust a cap in our asses. Apparently you need a permit to look this good in front of a camera. It was kind of ridiculous. She looked like the cat lady from the Simpson--but instead of cats she traveled with Monty Burns' hounds. And off we went--but not without a number of fantastic pictures--probably the only pictures in circulation of me not wearing a funny t-shirt. We'll post the pictures as soon as we get them. You'll enjoy them.
Our warehouse, while effective and functional, was in desperate need of a little TLC. Despite being the home to dozens of funny t-shirts, and the place where ideas for funny t-shirts are born, it is also the sacred home to the Crooked Monkey staff, and recently, it has been a little neglected.
Thats why, the other day, we decided to put a little love, and elbow grease, into the C. Monkey office. We did a major clean up/throw away, rearranged the shelves, and redecorated a bit. Most importantly, we put up the 10 feet wide by 10 feet long poster that intern Emily Kahn drew for a trade show last year. It was exactly what the Crooked Monkey Warehouse needed!!
These videos will give you a little taste of life at Crooked Monkey. Enjoy Chloe whining, Amy giggling, Ben chilling, Micha supervising and Erik sighing sadly. Also, enjoy the in-depth discussion on the nuances of duct tape.
Crooked Monkey is inspired often, but once in a while something comes along that makes us all stop what we're doing, gather round the computer, and really watch a YouTube video. This happened today with the "Where the Hell is Matt?" video. If you haven't seen it, we recommend you watch it here.
Today, the Stork dropped off a special little bundle of joy at the Crooked MonkeyFunny T-Shirt headquarters. By the stork, of course we mean Jason the UPS Guy and by little bundle of joy we mean a brand new fancy shmancy non-circa 1908 electric scale. In the past, the only electric scales that had anything to do with Crooked Monkey were the ones used for the mandatory weigh-ins that Micha subjects all female employees to daily.
Kidding. In fact, until today we used an old school, Mac From Way Back non-electric scale that involved balancing, bending over, and a lot of frustration (kind of like Micha's friday night). This new scale should make all of our lives a lot easier and will ensure speedier and more effective packages of funny t shirts.
So be assured that any funny t shirt you order from us will be packed with a lot of love and care, thanks to the new addition to the C. Monkey fam!
Funny T-Shirt Intern and Box-Packing Pro Erik Sellouk walked into the office this morning with a beautiful new 'do. We here at Crooked Monkey encourage our employees to put grooming and outward appearance above everything else in life, so we were pleased with the new hairstyle.
Newest Fashion Intern makes a splash--funny t-shirt blogs watch out
Amy Dahan, pictured above in her summer get up, started working for Crooked Monkey last week and she's already started to have an impact on the funny t-shirt world. She's gotten a couple of blogs to write about us already--nice work.
This is actually her second stint at Crooked Monkey. She worked for a hot minute last year at our annual University of Maryland Trunk show. She's hanging with our other interns: Chloe and Emily. Enjoy! And don't forget to check out our funny guys t-shirts and cute girls t-shirts
Dillon and Erik achieve Beast Mode in Shipping Funny T-shirts
It's not everyday that our employees earn the title of Beast Mode. Today Dillon and Erik packed more box in one day than most people see in a lifetime. They shipped out 45 packages; 3 short of our all time record, but still worthy of beast mode.
Shipping out funny t-shirts is not easy. They are packed with great care and a unique amount of love. Each package comes with awesome t-shirts, candy, and stickers.
The picture is of Dillon and Erik. Dillon's the one that is shorter than the boxes he packed.
