  • Gmail Spam FAIL

Posted on June 23, 2011 by Micha

What happens when Gmail's own email ends up in the spam filter?  What does that say about the Gmail SPAM filter--at least we know that the spam filter is unbiased, if not overly aggressive.

I always wondered if Google manually puts its own products higher up on google's search engine, or if its just really good at SEO.  Well the fact that an email from Gmail ended up in my spam filter kind of answers that question.

Click the link below to see the full graphic.  It's pretty funny to see a gmail email in SPAM.  BAM.

  • Dr Jason Moche

Posted on June 22, 2011 by Micha

My brother in law, Celebrity Dr Jason Moche, is quoted in this week's InTouch Magazine discussing celebrity surgeries and were just happy to be associated with him.  If you like what you see there, you can also catch him on an episode of "The Critical Hour" that featured his renowned surgeries.  He's more accomplished than we are--he's got his own profile on IMDB for that episode.

    Congratulations!

  • Walking a mile in her shoes

Posted on June 20, 2011 by Micha

Crooked Monkey Cares is our tagline for our charity work. We're proud of all the DC-based charities that we've helped over the last few years. Usually we will help them with their branding/marketing in the form of making awesome t-shirts.

Sometimes when we help a District of Columbia charity, they convince us to come out to their event.  That's always a blast, because we get to support the charity not only with our resources but also with our presence.

And sometimes, when we help a DC Charity, they have us dress up in high heels and "walk a mile in her shoes."  No joke.  Yesterday I woke up at 8 AM on Sunday Morning to don some super sleek Pink Wedges for the Becky's Fund Annual "Walk a mile in her shoes."  I'd post pictures, but I look too good in high heels.

In all honesty, it was a great event to raise awareness for Domestic violence against women.  I was joined by lots of other guys, including football players, who support ending domestic violence and bringing attention to the fact that 1 in 4 women are subject to it.  Congrats to Beckys' Fund and the DCCADV for a successful event--and keep up the good work.

  • Things that have inspired me as a designer for Crooked Monkey...

Posted on June 14, 2011 by Micha

I'm often either listening to music or watching a movie/TV when I design for Crooked Monkey.
Here are a list (in no particular order) of things that have actually given me inspiration for designs...

    Tron (1982)

    To Sir With Love (1967)

    Saved by the Bell (1989-1993)

    Rappin' (1985)

    The Hangover (2009)

    Rebbeca Black's Friday video (2011)

    Taxi Driver (1976)

    מציצים‎ [Metzitzim {translates to Peeping}] (1973)

PS, this movie was the main inspiration for You Don't Mess With The Zohan

    Mr. Mom (1983)

    Das Racist

    The Ten Commandments (1956)

    The Human Centipede (2009)

Ok, so not so much inspiration, but I watched it while designing the Keepin' It Fresh tee.

  • Which of these three would you have babysit your kids?

Posted on June 10, 2011 by Micha

Fine, so maybe you don't have kids. But let's pretend you do for now. Let's say you have a boy and a girl--both named Pat--and they're only 6-years-old. You have to leave them with a babysitter and only have these three choices:

    1. Lady Gaga
    2. Rihanna
    3. Tyler the Creator of Odd Future (or OFWGKTA)

    Lady Gaga
    PROs:
-She can play dress up with them.
-She'll treat them to ice cream.
    CONs:
-The ice cream is made from "mothers milk, you little monsters."

    Rihanna
    PROs:
-Her hair is the same color as Nickelodeon.

    CONs:
-Disciplining the kids with a whip is not only abusive, but it's confusing...right?

    Tyler the Creator
    PROs:
-He'll protect them if any intruders come by because he's incredibly threatening when he yells.
    -He knows Justin Bieber

    CONs:
-He yells often, so he'll be threatening to your kids, too.
BONUS PRO: He'll also treat them to ice cream

Ok, so there are your options.
    Enjoy.

    -C. Monkey
