  • Crooked Monkey Sighting on Undercover Boss

Posted on August 22, 2011 by Micha

A friend of mine texted a picture of someone wearing one of our t-shirts on "Undercover Boss."  Pretty baller.  This kid is sportin the Monkey on his back on national television.   That monkey on the back is the stamp of authenticity, you know you've got the freshest, softest, coolest t-shirt around.

I'm not sure what t-shirt he's wearing, but i'm going to guess it was our That's How I Roll Guys T-shirt

  • How to beat/fight the common cold

Posted on August 4, 2011 by Micha

Summer Cold's suck. School's out, my friends are playing in the sprinklers, and I'm stuck inside trying to beat back a cold.

I've taken pride in my new found ability to beat/fight/lessen the severity of the common cold.  I've gotten so good at it, I'd like to share my non-scientific pieces of advice with you.

When you notice the cold is coming--I always get a little bit of phlegm in the throat, and an overall uneasiness in the throat area--you gear up for war.  Go to the store, get some Zinc (in the form of Zycam or coldeez or whatever you like), some tea, some honey, airborne pills (if you're into them), and nyquil.  I like to keep the medication as natural as possible, but when you're hot and cold, and your nose is running through the night, you need some nyquil to put you to bed.

Now that you're ready for world war 3, you drink lots and lots of water and hot tea (with honey).  As much water as you can.  The fluids are integral.  That's the other great thing about airborne pills--they encourage you to drink more water. Throughout the day take some zinc and the airbornes. Get a lot of rest.  At night take the nyquil.  Wake up and do it all over again. Drink drink drink.

That night, take nyquil again and you should be fine by the next morning.  Maybe take an airborne for good measures.  And continue to drink water.  Then, when you're feeling good about yourself, and the cold is on its way out the door, give it a nice boot through the exit door.  Go work out and sweat out the cold.  That's my favorite thing to do.  Then take a shower.  You'll feel like a million bucks.

And when it's all done, reward yourself.  You've just gone to battle with the oldest warrior on the planet.  Go buy yourself an awesome t-shirt.

  • Our CEO makes CNN's top 10 Entrepreneurs to watch List

Posted on July 12, 2011 by Micha

    Juggling t-shirts

On Thursday, CNN Money came out with a feature on the Top 10 Next Generation Entrepreneurs to watch. Included in the list of 10 was a Restauranteur, a Vending Machine Mogul, and Yours truly. What an honor.

We launched the brand in 2005, and have been working since then to build Crooked Monkey into what it is today--awesome t-shirts for awesome people.  When we started, we focused on the humor market.  Then we added the graphic market to our catalog.  Now we are the destination for awesome tees. The nomination is a thumbs up/recognition to everything we're doing here at Crooked Monkey--and all the loyal fans and supporters across the globe.

The piece itself is pretty funny and cheeky, check it out.

So what's next for Crooked Monkey? How are we going to continue to provide awesome t-shirts and build the brand?  Well most importantly we're relaunching/revamping our site.  Its an exciting and long process--right now we're going through the cosmetic changes. It's all about finding that unique Crooked Monkey voice and funneling that into the design.

We're super stoked to be on CNN Money's top 10 list, and we won't let them down.  Cheers to the next six years of Livin the Dream.

  • Ninjasonik (Matt & Kim remix)

Posted on July 9, 2011 by Micha

In Matt & Kim's "Block After Block" vid, I noticed a cameo by a rap group I really dig--Ninjasonik. They're good friends with Matt & Kim and once in a while appear in each other's videos.

True Story. I saw them perform in 2009 and when I met them, Matt stole my sunglasses. a few months later, I saw them perform at another venue and I actually confronted him about it. We both laughed.

  • America. Fuck Yeah

Posted on July 5, 2011 by Micha

Ain't nothing like celebrating the fourth of July in the nation's capital, Washington DC. Downing beers, eating hot dogs, and learning new drinking games--these are a few of my favorite things. Sprinkle a little bit of Federal fireworks, with a panoramic view of DC's citizenry launching their own fireworks, and you've got one hell of a night.

    America. Fuck Yeah.

  • Gmail Spam FAIL

Posted on June 23, 2011 by Micha

What happens when Gmail's own email ends up in the spam filter?  What does that say about the Gmail SPAM filter--at least we know that the spam filter is unbiased, if not overly aggressive.

I always wondered if Google manually puts its own products higher up on google's search engine, or if its just really good at SEO.  Well the fact that an email from Gmail ended up in my spam filter kind of answers that question.

Click the link below to see the full graphic.  It's pretty funny to see a gmail email in SPAM.  BAM.

  • Dr Jason Moche

Posted on June 22, 2011 by Micha

My brother in law, Celebrity Dr Jason Moche, is quoted in this week's InTouch Magazine discussing celebrity surgeries and were just happy to be associated with him.  If you like what you see there, you can also catch him on an episode of "The Critical Hour" that featured his renowned surgeries.  He's more accomplished than we are--he's got his own profile on IMDB for that episode.

    Congratulations!

  • Walking a mile in her shoes

Posted on June 20, 2011 by Micha

Crooked Monkey Cares is our tagline for our charity work. We're proud of all the DC-based charities that we've helped over the last few years. Usually we will help them with their branding/marketing in the form of making awesome t-shirts.

Sometimes when we help a District of Columbia charity, they convince us to come out to their event.  That's always a blast, because we get to support the charity not only with our resources but also with our presence.

And sometimes, when we help a DC Charity, they have us dress up in high heels and "walk a mile in her shoes."  No joke.  Yesterday I woke up at 8 AM on Sunday Morning to don some super sleek Pink Wedges for the Becky's Fund Annual "Walk a mile in her shoes."  I'd post pictures, but I look too good in high heels.

In all honesty, it was a great event to raise awareness for Domestic violence against women.  I was joined by lots of other guys, including football players, who support ending domestic violence and bringing attention to the fact that 1 in 4 women are subject to it.  Congrats to Beckys' Fund and the DCCADV for a successful event--and keep up the good work.
