No Hummers--Crooked Monkey saves the planet

About a year and a half ago, we came out with our No Hummers t-shirt, to help save the world. Looks like our t-shirt did more than we could ever imagine--the hummer brand is shutting down.

Our friends over at EfficiencyLaw.com actually came up with the t-shirt and informed us of the news.

Just another way Crooked Monkey's t-shirts are saving the planet-one t-shirt at a time.

Crooked Monkey Cares: Bridesmaid Bar Crawl

We love supporting charities, especially local ones in DC. A friend of mine organized a bar crawl for Suited for Change, and we donated t-shirts as door prizes.

They ended up raising a nice amount of money for Suited for Change, and the participants "Loved the t-shirts."

Sounds like a fun day: Drinking until you can't walk, getting free t-shirts, and supporting a Washington DC charity. Sign me up.

Crooked Monkey Cares: Go Team Blonde!

Five years ago, a group of girls had a vision. Blondes. Brunettes. Football. Charity.

Sounds like a recipe for success. And over the last five years, through their annual Team Blonde Vs. Brunette Fundraiser, they've raised over $100,000 for Alzheimer research. This year's goal is to raise $100,000. (Support their efforts by donating here). The game is on November 14th in Washington DC.

To help them get to their magic number, Team Blonde (favored to win this year) asked us to create a t-shirt they could sell for charity. We delivered. The t-shirts debuted, to great fanfare, at their fundraiser at a new bar in Georgetown called, George. In just one night, they sold out of the Blonde T-shirts--these blondes can play football, raise money, sell t-shirts. What can't they do?

If you want to buy a shirt (we're reprinting the tees), email us and support their worthy cause.

Our new logo in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Real men wear pink. Real Monkeys have pink fur--well at least in the month of October for Breast Cancer awareness month.

We have updated our logo to help raise awareness for an important cause--raising awareness for a cancer that, if detected early, can be treated.

We sell t-shirts making fun of a lot of different topics, but not getting a mammogram is no laughing matter. Support Breast Cancer Awareness, support research for all types of cancer and lets make this world a better place.

Crooked Monkey Cares about ALS

Every year my brother's best friend organizes a group to walk for ALS in memory of Norman Holzberg. The group, comprised of best friends from college and other walks of life, is called Stormin 4 Normin. It's a great charity and Crooked Monkey has been involved with it for two years now. It's part of our overall effort to give back to charities and philanthropies and to help friends.

Another one of their friends, Seth, is an amazing graphic designer. He designed the shirts, we produced them. This year they raised lots of money for ALS research and also won the best t-shirt design. If you're interested in donating to this worthy cause, please let us know and we'll get you in contact with them.

Thanks! And if you want to buy Funny Guys T-shirts, or Funny Girls t-shirts you know where to go.

Crooked monkey Cares about Monkeys

The other week, the Bonobo Conservation Initiative contacted us to see if we were interested in helping them out. Of course we are! We love monkeys--even if I don't understand the difference between: monkeys and animals-that-look-like-monkeys but aren't classified as such.

We love helping out charities--especially monkey ones. We make t-shirts for a few reasons.
1)To clothe the naked.
2)To bring humor into this world.
3)To offend some uptight people sometimes.
4)To make enough money so that we can share it with others and make a difference in this world!

If you've got a charity that needs a Crooked Monkey gift certificate, let us know and we'll try to accommodate you.

Our Funny t-shirts do good for the world

Last Thanksgiving, we sponsored the Annual Paul Blank Invitational Flag Football Game which raises money for the Foundation for Fighting Blindness and the Association for Safe International Road Travel.

As a sponsor of the game, and an alumn of the Charles E Smith Jewish Day School, I was invited to play in this year's epic match. We handed out the shirts to start the Battle Royale and the players were impressed with the quality of the shirts--only to be outshined by the quality of play by the gold team. A little tidbit of history: I was the captain of the Gold team for JDS in 11th Grade.

The pictures below reflect the intensity of the game and the skills needed to compete in this annual gridiron. Here, Elliot Totah shows off his lightning speed and cat like reflexes. The blue team mustering up some much needed Ruach for the second half.
And Dan Fulop showing off the monkey on his back:

Crooked monkey Cares

For the holiday season, we are doing something good for this world. We've linked up with Dosomething.org on a couple of initiatives to help raise money and awareness for their great cause.

First and foremost, 15% of profits from our That's How I roll guys t-shirt will be donated to DoSomething.org. Seventeen magazine wrote us up in their December Holiday gift buying guide--because they love the shirt and they love our charity work.

Second, since Do Something wants you guys to get active, if you text MONKEY to 30644 you’ll get volunteer opportunities sent to your cell 2 times a month. It’s a great way get involved and stay involved. Go on, do it. Text MONKEY to 30644 to get the volunteer opps and make a difference this holiday season.

Crooked Monkey cares

This is a pretty big election. Tomorrow we elect the new leader of our country at a pivotal time. I don't envy the next president, as he will have to deal with a deteriorating economy, global warming, and a nuclear Iran. It's not a position I would seek, and I do question their judgment for running in this election.

But hopefully one of these candidates for president will turn our country around. We're not endorsing any candidates, but we are encouraging voting. If you vote tomorrow, email us and we'll give you 25% of your t-shirt order. Just email us and say "I voted." And we'll send you a promo code.

Here are some other promotions that cool companies that care about our world are running:
California Tortilla: Local to Washington DC, they are giving out free tacos if you have the "I voted" sticker
Starbucks: An up and coming National chain of coffee beans is giving out free coffee
Ben and Jerry's: The coolest and most socially conscious entrepreneurs are giving out free ice cream.

If I was you, here's how I'd hit for the cycle. Wake up. Vote early (and often). Swing by Starbucks for your morning fix. Then hit up California Tortilla for lunch, and top it off with Ben and Jerry's. Then when you're bored at work, check out our funny t-shirts and grab that t-shirt you've been wanting to buy yourself or your friend at a highly discounted rate!

The best thing about this blog post is that it was inspired by Noam Weinblatt, my brother. He's driving all the way home from college to Make a Difference and wanted to make sure that I give a shout out to voting and all those great companies encouraging it.

Crooked Monkey cares

We donated some funny t-shirts to the "Penta Cares Charity Golf Outing" and they raised over $36,000. The charity gives money to the American Diabetes Foundation.

This is just one of the ways that Crooked Monkey gives back to the community. If you have a charity that needs help, let us know. Our funny t-shirts raise both money and spirits!
