New Girls Sayings T-shirt: Rock

Here's a real cool shirt we just produced. The saying on the t-shirt is "Rock" and within the text is a bunch of cool Rock symbols. We're not sure if this is part of our "New Graphic Girls line" or part of the "Classic Girls Slogan line," or maybe its a hybrid of the two. Either way it's a pretty awesome girls Rock t-shirt.

Let us know your thoughts on this new Sayings t-shirt.

Climbing the charts of Funny t-shirts

Since Crooked Monkey is all about selling funny t-shirts and graphic t-shirts, we work hard to make sure that google recognizes our products. And recently we leapfrogged from page 6 to page 3 when you search for funny t-shirts in their search engine.

Thanks Google. But we're not going to stop until we're on page 1 when people search for Funny t-shirts.

And it's not really for us--it's for the public. People who search for funny t-shirts shouldn't have to sift through all that crap until they find us. They should find us first--it's just a more efficient use of their time.

Skydiving with our t-shirts

We get lots and lots of emails from our fans. We get lots and lots of pictures from our customers of our funny t-shirts. But this might be the coolest picture/email combo we've gotten so far.

This guy swung by our guys t-shirt store, picked up our Turn Tables Guys Graphic T-shirt, and then jumped out of a plane wearing our t-shirt. No parachute needed.

COOOOOOOL. This also wins our picture of the month award.

Does this shirt look familiar?

We did some research and here's what we found. Nathan Trasoras wore our Keyboard Graphic t-shirt on Season 6, Episode 7 of the So you Think you Can Dance TV show. He's on the show for a good part of it--from minute 3 until minute 4:45 and he wears the shirt well.

We're going to embed the YouTube video here for you to see the shirt in action, but chances are it might get taken down.

Our t-shirt on So you think you can dance (again!!)

We just got an email from a fan saying they saw one of our guys shirts on the TV show "So you think you can dance" last night. We're finding out more details--like which guy wore it, which t-shirt it was and whether or not he can do the moonwalk.

The season started less than a month ago, and already two dancers have worn our t-shirts. (Check out the other t-shirt on so you think you can dance). I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like there's a direct correlation between being a good dancer and wearing Crooked Monkey's graphic t-shirts.

Maybe we should come out with a commercial, where Michael Jackson is trying, trying to dance. But he just can't get the rhythm, the timing, the moves right. He throws on one of our t-shirts, and bam, he's moon walking and side walking all over the Apollo theatre. How should this commerical end?

What a party

We haven't had a chance to write the follow up blog to the Photoshoot at the Warehouse, but I wanted to give a small glimpse of the night. We transformed a beat up warehouse in Chinatown into an impressive lounge--with lighting (pictured above), a full bar, a kicking DJ and a live graffiti artist. Everyone who attended said they were blown away with the ambiance--that this was probably the coolest party they've been to this year. Nice! Our 6 weeks of work paid off!
On Monday we'll post a blog with all the details. In the meantime read up on the press that we got for the T-shirt launch party:

-9:25 AM on Monday morning (9/21), Angie Goff (pictured above) will discuss it on WUSA Channel 9 Morning News!
-Pamela's Punch
-The Glamazon Diaries
-K street Kate
-MoCo Scene
-Amanda Nachman, CEO of CollegeMagazine.com

Photoshoot at the Warehouse. Tonight.

6 weeks into the making and 100 invites later, the day has finally arrived. We've been preparing the warehouse this whole weekend--bringing in lighting, furniture, and toilet paper.

The invitation went out on August 17th--people were informed of the party via a t-shirt mailed to them in a black envelope. Since then we have sent out three emails: giving the address of the party, instructions on what to do with the t-shirt and regretfully informing people that there would be no plus 1s.

There will be lots of surprises, good times and brand new t-shirts. So sit back, relax and read people's live tweets about the party.

Details for the Photoshoot at the Warehouse

We've spoken a little bit about our Photoshoot at the Warehouse party, but not too much about it. Mostly because were not allowed to. It's a small venue--it only fits 100 people--and the guest list is sealed. It's next Sunday night, from 9-12Pm.

We're pulling out all the stops for this party. The invite was sent out in a black envelope, with banana candy, and a t-shirt as the formal invitation. Guests will bring the t-shirt to the party and be met with a myriad of surprises. We have an awesome DJ lined up--one of DC's best. Open bar is being provided by Emperor Vodka and Magic Hat. The Bar tenders are being supplied by Mie N Yu Restaurant. The photobooth, which will provide endless entertainment and awesome pics with Crooked monkey t-shirts, is provided by PoshBooth in DC.

The surprises and good times will be documented and published on the blog on September 14th. We're super excited for bringing Crooked Monkey's new graphic t-shirts and classic humor t-shirts to DC's finest.

Photoshoot at the Warehouse

We're gearing up for the launch of our graphic t-shirts, with a "Photoshoot at the Warehouse" in Washington DC, mid-September.

It's going to be as much a launch of our graphic line as a celebration of how cool DC has gotten. Over the last few years I've written a lot about DC--how it's become hipper and funner everyday. It's about to get a lot cooler.

The party, featuring our t-shirts and all that DC has to offer--from Emperor Vodka to Mi n Yu in Georgetown to graffiti artists--will be a true testament to Crooked Monkey's roots in Washington DC. Now all we need is a professional sports team that can win games.

Details about the party--including the invitations, timelines and guests--will be on the blog throughout the month.

Michael Jackson Tribute V Neck shirts

The other day we wrote about the process of producing Michael Jackson tees. Since we loved him so much, we wanted to make sure that we were making the best MJ shirts out there--the ones that would honor Michael the most.

We've done it. Go check out our Michael Jackson girls shirts and our MJ guys shirts. For the first time ever, we've printed them on V-necks. Let us know what you think. These shirts mean a lot to us.

We created 4 guys and 4 girls Michael Jackson Shirts.

I heart MJ V neck Guys t-shirt
King of Pop MJ Sunglasses V-Neck Guys t-shirt
Michael Jackson Sunglasses V-neck Guys Shirt
Michael Jackson Silhouette Tribute Guys V neck Shirt

I heart MJ V neck Girls t-shirt
King of Pop MJ Sunglasses V-Neck Girls t-shirt
Michael Jackson Sunglasses V-neck Girls Shirt
Michael Jackson Silhouette Tribute Girls V-neck Shirt

They are all printed on Unisex American Apparel Deep V neck t-shirts. For guys, you should order the size you normally order. But for girls, you should order one size lower--if you usually order a Small, then get an XS (b/c they're unisex). If you usually order a medium shirt, then order a Small Unisex v neck. Hope that makes sense!

We've got a nice mix of themes here--science, music, technology and nature. They all come together to produce 4 awesomely cool t-shirts. What are your thoughts? Any specific themes you like better, or want to see more of? Post comments!

Retro Snapshot New Guys Graphic T-shirt

This is part of our graphic t-shirt line. Real cool, retro inspired designs. They usually center around music/retro technology/or anything else our designers think look cool.

The Retro Snapshot Graphic t-shirt is one of my favorite new shirts--paying homage to the old school Polariod-like cameras and their instant photographs. I guess they were ahead of their time--immediate results, instant satisfaction.

Colorful Sound Headphone New Guys Graphic t-shirt

This t-shirt, Colorful Sound Headphones Guys Graphic T-shirt, is a real neat graphic. The print came out well--the colors are vibrant and pretty.

For those of you that are new to our site, we've started making non-funny graphic t-shirts. There are no jokes, just deep meanings and layers of analysis. We decided that college kids love funny t-shirts and they also love cool graphic t-shirts--so we're providing both.

Woops

Hiring new help is always a long and arduous, yet rewarding process. The individual needs to embody all that is Crooked Monkey, while also bringing his/her own unique spirit to the team. Creative, Fun, Witty, Intelligent, Fashionable, these are just some of the characteristics we look for in a new employee.

Imagine how hard it is to hire an employee without ever meeting them. We're hiring an additional designer, and are scanning all of Earth looking for the individual who can succesfully carry out our vision. Language barriers, Time Zones, the way their toilets flush--none of that matters when searching for excellence.

Just yesterday we found an awesome new designer who kills it with her graphics. After some emails back and forth I knew she'd be great. We drew up the contract and sent it over to her. This was her response:

"The agreement looks alright, just that... you might need to change she to he:)"

Woops!!!!!! Its real difficult judging genders when you're unfamiliar with the names of the country.

Old School Knockout Graphic T-shirt NEW

Read my post about our Graphic t-shirts so that you can fully understand why we're venturing off into these uncharted territories. These shirts are not meant to be funny; there are no hidden jokes; only hidden meanings. Each graphic is its own world of significance and implications. This specific non-slogan shirt captures the intensity and class of an original boxing match. We named it Old School Boxing Match.

Give Peace a shot NEW Graphic T-shirt

Crooked Monkey has been making hilarious t-shirts for over three years now, and every now and then people would ask, "Why don't you make graphic t-shirts too." We thought long and hard about the implications of making non-funny tees. T-shirts with layered meanings and graphics that make you think twice. While we were sitting around thinking, those requests started getting louder, more frequent and was turning into an angry mob of customers. So to spare lives we decided to venture into the Graphic t-shirts arena.

Like with everything else we do at Crooked Monkey, we weren't going to get into this scene unless we thought the shirts were awesome and geared towards the college crowd. These shirts pass the test with flying colors.

Crooked Monkey is now a one-stop shop for awesome tees. You can get your funny shirts, graphic shirts, and soft shirts all in one amazing location.
